The Building

"The church under the big green dome" — one of Tulsa's most beloved landmarks, more than a century in the making.

First Christian Church of Tulsa was organized in 1902 and grew from a single family's living room into one of the most architecturally significant buildings in Oklahoma. Its Classical Greek landmark at 9th and Boulder — completed in 1920 — became the anchor of Tulsa's Cathedral District and the spiritual and cultural heart of downtown for over 100 years. In 2025, the congregation sold the property as they transitioned to a new home, and the building's next chapter began.

Architectural Highlights

The Green Dome

A striking central cupola and four smaller domes constructed of Indiana limestone — the defining feature of Tulsa's Cathedral District skyline.

Pipe Organ

Over 4,000 pipes fill the rear gallery. One of the finest instruments in the region — still occupying the building, awaiting restoration.

Innovative Ventilation

A hand-cranked system uses the stained-glass dome to circulate air from the basement out through the roof — engineering as elegant as the architecture.

Interior Splendor

Original oak pews, chandeliers, marble floors, and a sanctuary built to seat thousands — unchanged since completion in 1920.

"The dome never stopped singing. We're just making sure more people can hear it."
